Operational Excellence

IDI Mexico formulates and manufactures custom Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) using the most modern equipment produced under tight quality control to exacting specifications.

The state-of-the-art 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Mexico City was designed and built, utilizing the highest industry standards, specifically to produce SMC and BMC compounds and composites.

We have a dedicated BMC manufacturing area with 6 double-arm sigma mixers capable of manufacturing more than 10,000 tons of BMC per year in both bulk and extruded forms.

We also have 3 highly automated SMC machines with environmental controls, including a new 60”, 1.5 meter machine that has a capacity of 24,000 metric tons per year, to ensure the highest quality material performance. Ingredients are dispensed directly into the mix tanks via PLC controls while paste is automatically delivered from the mix center to the SMC machine.

Once the SMC materials have been formulated and manufactured, they are stored in a climate controlled maturation room capable of handling up to 50 metric tons of material until it reaches release viscosity in preparation for shipping to our customers.
